Ocala, Florida provides a wide range of home

Ocala has long been called the "Kingdom of the
Sun” and on average boasts 233 sunny days per

of horse here. Ocala is most famous for its

also home to a winter horse show circuit called
HITS (Horse Shows in the Sun) which runs for 10
consecutive weeks and draws in riders,from all
over the world, who compete in classes offering
over $4 million in prize money. Ocala is also home
to Florida’s oldest attraction, Silver Springs State
Park. Silver Springs is the largest artesian spring
formation in the world and it is famous for its
glass-bottom boats, which were invented and
launched there in the 1870s. Ocala is also home to
the Appleton Museum, the Ocala Civic Theatre, the
College of Central Florida, the Don Garlits Museum
of Drag Racing, and the Ocala National Forest,
which covers607 square miles and is the second
largest nationally protected forest in Florida. In the
Ocala National Forest, you will find rivers,natural
springs that are great for snorkeling and diving,and
over 600 natural ponds and lakes. When it comes
to dining out, there are plenty of restaurants to
choose from in the Ocala area. Downtown Ocala
offers shops, restaurants, art galleries,and music
and various events on the square throughout the
year, including a farmer’s market every Saturday.
